Sarah is a 28-year-old wallflower who is about to start work as a governess. She goes to a masquerade ball hoping to have a "night of passion" before she starts her career. She meets Robert (a widowed Duke) in the gardens when she is hiding from her ex-fiance. After talking to each other for a few minutes, Sarah tells Robert about her desires and Robert offers to fulfill them.

I hated this novella. I like Stacy Reid's writing, which is the only reason that I was able to finish it. The main characters' actions didn't make any sense. Both main characters were unbelievably obtuse and they kept making bad decisions. Robert ran hot and cold throughout the book, and Sarah was hopelessly in love with him for absolutely no reason.

Phoebe wants to marry her childhood friend, George, but her parents are forcing her to marry a man who's older than her father. After Phoebe and George sleep together, they confront her parents in the hopes that they will be allowed to marry, but her parents refuse and offer George money instead. George accepts the money and leaves. When Phoebe discovers that she is pregnant, and that her parents are planning to take her child from her, she leaves their home and makes her way to Scotland, hoping to strike a deal with her panpal, whom she knows is seeking a wife.

Hugh's father is dying, and one of his last wishes is for Hugh to find a wife. Hugh was born mute and decides that the easiest way to find a wife would be to advertise for one in the newspaper. When an anonymous woman replies to his advertisement, he strikes up a correspondence with her. Hugh wants an impersonal marriage of convenience, but finds himself captivated by his mysterious panpal. Then she shows up on his doorstep.

I loved the first half of this book, but the second half was a letdown for me. Not enough happened, and a lot of the characters' actions didn't make complete sense.

I really liked the letters that they wrote to each other in the beginning. I liked how the story incorporated sign language, and I liked how Hugh was so accepting of Phoebe and her pregnancy.

Georgiana is a dowager duchess with a 6 year old son. She has been a widow for a few years and she's very lonely.

Rhys has been trying to claw his way into the aristocracy so that his sisters can have the life that he thinks they deserve. He gathers secrets in order to get favors from powerful people.

I didn't care for this book. It's not that the book is BAD, the story just didn't hold my interest and the romance didn't click for me.

I tried to read it three separate times over the past few months. I finally finished it as an audiobook, even though I didn't like the narrator very much.

A lot of this was good, but some of it fell flat for me. It seemed like it had too many themes squashed into too short of a book.

My Darling Duke was the second book that I read by Stacy Reid, and while I liked My Wicked Marquess more, I liked this a lot. I really like how the author writes regency romances with a bit of a twist and makes the heroes and heroines seem less proper.

My Darling Duke is about Katherine who pretends an engagement with a reclusive duke, with the hope that she can set her sisters up for successful marriages before she is found out. The duke, Alexander, has shut himself off from almost everything, but is intrigued by Katherine and wants to learn more about her.

I liked both main characters and the story entertained me the whole way through. I'm excited to read more by the author.

What an amazingly interesting premise.

James was 18 when he became lost in the wilderness of Canada. Ten years later, he returns to England and his Dukedom, but everyone fears that his experiences have made him insane.

Jules was raised as a boy from birth and the only people that know of her secret are her mother and her childhood nurse. Now at 23, Jules is just beginning her career in the new field of psychology. When her father, also a psychologist, is asked to help the Duke, Jules joins him as his assistant.

I really liked this book. Jules and James are incredible characters and they are great together.

Edmond is a widower of 3 years. His wife and son died in childbirth, and he blames himself for their deaths. He realizes that his other children are lonely, so he decides to marry so they can have a mother.

Adeline was attacked by an Earl and now her father is trying to force her to marry her attacker. In order to escape that fate, she hatches of plan to have herself caught in the room of a man that she cares for who previously offered for her hand. But she finds herself in the wrong room.

Adeline was alright, but Edmond was an ass most of the time. I felt bad for him, and he had some good moments, but I don't think that the good completely made up for the bad. The relationship was very imbalanced because Edmond was so closed off for most of the book. And the relationship that they had seemed more lustful than loving until the very end.

When Mina hears that her brother is going to duel the Earl of Creswick she decides to take his place. Their father taught them how to handle swords and she has always been more skilled with a blade than her brother. Plus she has very little reputation to protect, due to a scandal 6 years prior.

When Simon meets with Mina he is so impressed with her that he offers her a job as his secretary (a job that women didn't typically hold at the time). Soon he is enthralled by Mina. He has always been very focused on business and politics, so his interest in her confounds him.

I really like the characters and the story, but I think that the relationship was slightly rushed at the beginning. Also, Mina was likeable, but kind of a Mary-Sue, which took away from the believability of the story.

I like how the politics of the time were included. The book is set in 1860s England when a lot of political changes were starting to happen (The Reform Act of 1867 and the Married Women's Property Act of 1870).

I was browsing a bookstore with a friend and I happened to see this book on the shelf. The blurb interested me right away, so I bought it and started reading it that night.

Maryann is being forced to marry someone and she's willing to ruin her own reputation to get out of it. Nicolas has devoted years of his life seeking vengeance for someone that he cared about. Both of the main characters have a lot of depth and are really likable. The chemistry between them is amazing. The plot is super fun and interesting. There isn't anything bad for me to say about this book and I'm very excited to read more by this author.

I enjoyed reading this novella. I think the relationship was built up pretty well for how short the story is, and I liked the characters and their passion. Sometimes the book was more violent than I would have liked, though.

I really like Stacy Reid's writing, but her books are sometimes not my cup of tea. Some of what she writes is more towards the erotica side of things than I personally prefer, without the emotional connection that I look for in romance. This novella had the romance that I was looking for though (even if it was short), so I'm happy.

I was hoping for romance with this book, but it was mostly instalove and erotica. The main characters had a few good qualities, but weren't especially likeable to me.

Atypical hero and a truly novel upbringing for the heroine make this romance a breath of fresh air.

DO NOT listen to the audiobook. The accents are VILE. The prior audiobook was a poor exercise in ASMR but this one is even worse.

That said, the story was fine.

I don't think I loved this book as much as everyone else did. I think as much as i loved the plot and the characters the world did not feel as fleshed out as i normally love in historicals. I struggled a bit with the wider world of the book. I did ennoy the the element of mystery and supense tosed in a the end but the book is def not a new favorite!!

Immensely enjoyable

Have yet to be disappointed in a Stacy Reid HR. She always manages to make her characters people you actually root for. This was another really enjoyable read.

The Earl on the Train by Kerrigan Byrne
I have been waiting for so long for Sebastian’s story! I have to admit I had forgotten that Veronica was a past character in Kerrigan’s previous books but tbh in the story it doesn’t really matter. The attraction is hot as usual, and this was an enjoyable read. I appreciate that it was a novella because that made the forgiving Seb for his past transgressions whiz by.

Loved and Found by Christi Caldwell
This was the story that surprisingly connected most with me emotionally. It is a second chance romance with our characters having been separated when young. There is talk/vague-ish references to possibly DV but that wasn’t expanded on. I just found these Thaddeus and Edie’s story to be touching and I am glad they got their HEA.

The Wolf of Westmore by Amalie Howard
I really enjoyed Wolf and Jocelyn and my one complaint was I feel the story could have been fleshed out more in a proper book. I wanted moar! LOL.

Put Up Your Dukes by Janna MacGregor
This was the story I enjoyed the least. Martin the ML was not the best character. Infact I don’t believe he deserves Amelia. He was too prideful and whew, didn’t come to his senses till almost the end? She deserves better completely.

Duke of Every Sin by Stacy Reid
Enjoyable story by Stacy Reid. I also wanted more story like I did for the Amelia Howard’s story. Verity and Ethan’s story felt like the most “fairy-tale” amongst all the novellas in the collection too.

Well this was absolutely delicious. One of Stacy’s previous books had a dumb meal lead that didn’t get magically cured and that book is honestly a favorite. In this book, our male lead also has a disability except its not one that is so immediately apparent. After surviving 10 years in the wilderness living with wolves (yes, you read that right LOL), James is back to society and having lots of difficulty. Enter Jules a woman who has lived a lie all her life and man, do the sparks fly.

I really enjoy Stacy Reid’s writing. I loved all the intricate details she put in these characters. I like how James’s things didn’t all get magically cured by the ‘power of love’ and also enjoyed his visceral reactions. I absolutely adored how he gave no effs to society. Jules story was so far out that it made me laugh. It also made me very angry at her mom.

Nonetheless Stacy made the outlandish plot and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Huge thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC.

Oh la la. A Matter of Temptation tells the story of Wilhelmina “Mina” Crawford and Simon the Earl of Creswick. They meet when Mina not only steals the place of her brother in a fencing duel with Simon, but actually wins! He saw through her ruse and was so impressed that he offered her employment, and the rest of the book is the story of their HEA.

It’s been while since I enjoyed BOTH leads in a historical romance and I want to just gush about both of the leads. Mina is a breath of fresh air. I loved her banter, strength, and weaknesses. Her character is confident but still realistic and thus does not feel like a 20th century heroine living in 1891 or something. I enjoyed her so much. And Simon! Wow, he’s so amazing. Not only in his political beliefs, but just everything about him. He had so many moments that honestly made me swoon. The chemistry between the 2 was fire and I strongly rooted for them to have their perfect HEA.

I felt some of the middle was a bit repetitive but honestly this was a very solid 4 stars from me.

A huge thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Reading a Stacy Reid book always puts me in a good mood. I know I will enjoy the leads and that there will be steam :) This book delivered on both fronts. While I am not a fan of the "fall in love when kids trope" and still didn't really enjoy it here, I enjoyed Fifi's journey tremendously. I liked how her relationship with her parents was portrayed and I especially loved her scene with Sally. That scene truly moved me. Devlin was an okay hero but tbh this book was all about Fifi and by extension the wallflowers. I can't wait for Fanny's story next!

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I stayed up all night to complete it. The main reasons for that belong to our two leads - Phoebe and Hugh. Firstly, one of the leads had a disability that I am seeing for the first time in a HisRom that isn't temporary or magically fixed. Secondly, both of them were just so soft. LOL. I loved Phoebe's character so much. She was bold and not just content to do nothing given the hard lessons she had to learn. It also did not make her cynical. Hugh tried to come off as all cold and standoffish but I totally loved (thanks Stacy) that he never crossed the line into being a jerk. They were both just really good people and their chemistry was so sweet.

On the cons side there were some issues with continuity that sometimes took me out of the scene. I hope they get fixed before the book gets published.

Overall, this was a very sweet book. It's 4th in a series and although I have read all the others (How to Marry a Marquess is a huge fav), this is a total stand-alone.

*Thanks NetGalley and Entangled for the ARC*

Short and sweet! While the blurb made me feel I wouldn't enjoy the story because of the amnesia trope, I should have trusted Stacy :)

Georgiana is such a lovely heroine and while Daniel was such an arse initially, he did eventually redeem himself. I loved reading his scenes with Anna and Sarah so much!

Seeing old couples pop up was also fun.

This is legit the opposite of slow burn - married in one day and banging that night - their relationship is also a little unhinged.
It was ok but not my taste.
