Robert A. Burton, M.D. is a physician, journalist, and author. On Being Certain: Believing You Are Right Even When… von Robert Burton MD

A neurologist looks at what happens in the brain and mind to give us the sense that we are right. Makes you realize that feeling certain is lest about objective reality than one might think.

A Skeptic's Guide to the Mind: What Neuroscience… von Robert Burton M.D.

Started weak and overly academic, got better, ended with too much philosophical nonsense. To quote from James Morrow's Only Begotten Daughter:

“Science does have all the answers,” said Howard, withdrawing. “The problem is that we don’t have all the science.”

And philosophical musing about the mind is not science. Stick with the brain (and might want to rethink poking at Stephen Hawking's intellect...) Still, there were some interesting side trips from following up on some of Burton's references. Slime mold. Check it out.
