My actual rating for this one is a 3.5, but I don't feel it warrants a 3 star write-up. Like the Food52 Ice Cream Book, Mighty Salads is focused, as you've guessed -- on salad! I was prepared for this book to be a bit bland and boring, and to go looking for 2-3 diamond in the rough recipes I might want to try, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I was deeply impressed to see this laid out as so many different types of salad by chapters: leafy greens, non-leafy-green vegetable salads, been salads, bread salads, seafood salads, meat salads. I definitely have a number of these I will be trying in the future, far more than expected. I'm going to suggest you do the same as me and keep an eye on all the rest of the single topic cookbooks coming out from Food52, because they are consistently blowing out all expectations.… (mehr)

While I am still not sure why this book has "and friends" in the title, that's very easily slid to the back of ones mind once the first pages start turning. These recipes are gorgeous and delicious looking. The photos are exquisite and leaving you staring for a long time at the use of color, placement, and variety.

I would advise this book to anyone who loves ice cream and want to try making it (or already loves making it)! I know that the Earl Grey with a Raspberry Ribbon is high on the list of things that are definitely happening in my kitchen this fall.… (mehr)

Seems like a really nice cookbook but I'm "in a mood" so I only picked out two to eventually try and I can get the book from the library again someday if need be:
-- Strawberry-Yogurt Snack Cake - Hoping this will not be too sweet from sugar but the natural sweetness from the strawberries
-- Six-Ingredient Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Cookies - will likely skip the jelly and try just the cookies which are flour-less… (mehr)
