Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking
Each recipe starts with a title, list of ingredients are included and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar and fresh vs. canned items.
Directions are given. There are NO pics and NO nutritional information.
What I love about this book is there are recipes included that are very similar to my mother in law, a German who was raised near PA Dutch.
Love how she cooked her potato salad sauce. Such yummy and for the most part she made them healthier with the ingredients she used.

"Pennsylvania Dutch Cooking" was published by the Dutchcraft Company. Although I've quicky-searched around the internet, I've yet to discover anymore about the book or the company than the latter seems to have been based in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. (Even WorldCat has no publication date.)

So this isn't a particularly large collection. 45 or so pages of recipes which are not as old as one might suppose. I say this because ingredients are measured and not as my grandmother used to say: 'First you get a handful of flour'. You see, measurements were made popular by Fannie Farmer at the beginning of the last century. So these recipes are probably considerably older. (Not that measurements are a bad thing. I'm all for them.)

KINDLE NOTES: The Kindle version of this book is virtually unusable. Whoever ran the OCR machine did a poor job and all the quotes come over as ???'s. And worse, all the numbers come out the same. So instead of getting something like you need 1/3 cup sugar, it comes out that you need ??? cup.
