Rebeki relaxes her ROOTing in 2024

In spite of being terrible at keeping my own thread updated, let alone visiting others', I love being in this group and am excited to be back in 2024. I met last year's goal of 25 ROOTs - scraping in on 30th December - but, in order to do that, ended up ignoring many of my new acquisitions. This feels counterproductive, as, ever since I first joined this group in 2017, I've been trying to move away from hoarding books and instead to read new books within a few months of acquiring them.

With that in mind, I'm changing my approach to ROOTing, so that any new book I acquire in 2024 will count as a ROOT. Non-ROOTs will be books I've borrowed or read with my son (although, now he's 12, there may not be many of these, unfortunately). My aim is to read 30 ROOTs in 2024. My official starting TBR number is 129 and, allowing for non-ROOTs and new acquisitions, I'd love to end the year with a TBR of 115 books.

>6 Jackie_K: Thank you! I know my TBR number is lower than many people's, but it's still going down painfully slowly. Thinking about it some more, 115 seems a bit too ambitious for my reading pace, but we shall see. Good luck with making a dent in your 560!

>7 rabbitprincess:, >8 cyderry: Thank you! And thank you, Chèli, for all you do running this group. It's life changing!

>9 Rebeki: It's so hard, isn't it? I'm sure I'll feel just as much pressure if my TBR ever gets down to 115 as I do now! (my total today is 584, 560 is my end of year goal)
