This one has an agreeable weirdness throughout and the resolution, though rather abrupt, is plausible and gratifying. ( ) Mrs Bradley's great-niece, Fenella gets stranded in the village of Seven Wells and is forced to stay overnight in the local pub. By unfortunate chance it is the night of the 'Mayering',a sinister folk festival involving skeletons and also cloaked and masked figures representing signs of the zodiac. She is no shrinking violet and although warned by the inn keeper to stay in he room she instead sets out to try and find out what is going on. A couple of days earlier the squire has been found murdered and these two events bring Mrs Bradley onto the scene to attempt a solution. An ingenious puzzle which shows Gladys Mitchell at her macabre best. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

A VINTAGE MURDER MYSTERY Rediscover Gladys Mitchell - one of the 'Big Three' female crime fiction writers alongside Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers. Fenella, great-niece to the unorthodox psychoanalyst and sleuth Mrs Bradley, unwittingly stumbles upon a pagan ritual in the sleepy village of Seven Wells. When the village's pub landlord disappears, Fenella calls on her great aunt's expert advice to help her unravel the developing mysteries. Why was the squire of the village stabbed in the back? And what is the secret of the five skeletons in the crypt? Opinionated, unconventional, unafraid... If you like Poirot and Miss Marple, you'll love Mrs Bradley.
