There's a lot packed into this story but it's not a difficult read. There's a mere double handful of characters, some of whom we only know about from hearsay. The plot unfolds gently with many journeys back in time. But not in a jolting jump from present to past and back again. Instead, the protagonist, Poppy, gradually reveals the events of the last 17 years to her previously estranged friends.

Sisters Harriet and Jessica offer Poppy their hospitality and practical help but both Poppy and the reader often ponder whether each of them have hidden motives and private agendas. Jessica, especially, often behaves unpredictably. The beauty of this is that it causes each nuance of the dialogue to be examined, suspiciously. I red-herringed myself several times but I couldn't accuse L.K. Chapman of leading me astray - I really did it all by myself! Clever stuff!

Due to having a bout of ill-health I had to set the novel aside for a few weeks. When I came back to it I was surprised to find I could just pick it straight back up. The plot and characters were still clear in my mind.

The pace is deceptively rapid considering most of the settings are domestic. There is plenty of drama as well as the difficulties of single mothers raising their sons. The denouement took my breath away. I went back and reread it only to find it really was consistent with everything the author had previously outlined. I thoroughly enjoyed No Safe Haven and was very impressed. I'll try more of her novels.

My biggest problem with this book - Michael. What a whiny, selfish little jerk.
The women here were all too good for this self centered joke of a man. If I were one of these ladies, I think I’d lie to him also just to mess with his narcissistic head.

Other than that, this book was a bit disturbing-in a good way. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was an absorbing novel. The characters were believable and all gathered importance in my reading mind and heart. The plot unfolded inexorably to an anticipated but feared conclusion. The book was well constructed and well written. I received this as a LibraryThing Member GiveAway. Thank you.½

This book was very well written. I was hooked right until the very end. I would have given this book five stars but for the ending. I was so worried about how Michael fared, and as there is no sequel, I felt like something was missing and that the ending wasn't complete. I think a few words would have helped readers to come to the conclusion that the murder charge is slightly alleviated since Paul deserved what came to him. But, I was glad to find Celeste doing better and happier with her little girl.

I don't think that there was any other way for Michael to handle this situation; he did his best. And I wonder, if something like this did happen to any of us, how would we react? Would we be able to do what Michael did for Rae? Would we be able to deal with it?

For me, just reading about the perverts that exist in this world made me sick. My stomach churned, my head ached, and I felt so depressed. I just don't get it, how some people can be so depraved.

I had a hard time with Rae; sometimes I believed her, and sometimes I didn't know what to make of her unusual stories. Sometimes I was so annoyed with her; but whatever she said about her baby, I felt that there was some truth in it.

And when I read:
"Her hands were shaking, and her skin felt ice cold. But for once, this wasn’t just speculation – some wild idea that she’d never be able to convince anyone of. If this was about Paul’s relationship to Madeline, it could be proved one way or the other. She looked down at her trembling hands. It was all about blood, she realised. Everything was about blood,"
I knew exactly what Paul's actual relationship to Tamsin was, and I was so extremely disgusted I could have thrown up.

This is a very good book with deep, complex issues, and the psychological aspects of the story convinced me that the author had to have studied about it. :)

Although I loved the way this author writes, I don't think I can handle the issues she writes. I would like to say that I look forward to reading more of her work, but I can't honestly say that.

I finished reading this book yesterday, but I needed time to process it all before I could rate and review it.

What would you do for the person you love? That is the question that Felicity tries to answer when the man she loves, Jay, asks her to help him get revenge on his former friend, Mark, for sleeping with his former love, Sammie. But what really happened all those years ago? Who was Sammie? And what does she have to do with Felicity? Alternating between Sammie and Felicity's point of view this story explores the question what will we do for the people we love.

I could not but this book down! It is full of twists and turns that leaves the reader guessing till the very end. Admittedly the characters in this story are not that likeable however I still found myself feeling for them. Overall this book is a must read for mystery and suspense lovers.

Wow! I couldn't put this one down. I just finished it and I'm at a loss for words. Crazy, twisted, insane.... Just when I thought I had it figured out it changed and even though I can now see how it all led up to the ending it was a shock. Wow, wow, wow!

What an Awesome read! I am not usually a fan of stories with flashbacks but the author really makes it works by weaving the two stories slowly together until the final culmination. The twist and turns kept me guessing and I could not put the book down! This is a must read.½

Would you do anything for the person you loved? How far would you be willing to go to make them trust you? Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. It starts as a innocent infatuation of a girl by a boy in school. They seem to really like each other. Sammie and Jay are typical teenagers who suddenly find themselves entangled in a very unhealthy relationship. The author has masterfully written a story so terrifying and graphic that I gasped out loud at some of the violence . It is well described and as Sammie slowly realizes that Jay is dangerous, she feels terror raging through her body.

Mark and Jay have a weird friendship . I wasn't sure at first who was jealous of who and why they were jealous. As the story progresses there is a hint of anger boiling to the surface between the two. Mark always tells Jay he will look out for him and I think Mark begins to really be one creepy guy. I could not figure out who was worse but the brilliant writing had me on the edge of my seat reading as fast as I could. Jay seems to become more violent and less trusting towards Sammie and she is desperate to get away from him. What happens that day when Mark, Sammie and Jay all find themselves at the same house? Who knows the truth behind Sammie's disappearance?

The story flashe forward several years and we see Jay with a young woman named Fliss. She looks similar to Sammie but Fliss has no clue about Jay's past. One day Jay decides he wants to get revenge on his old friend Mark. Fliss is at the center of the plot. I really liked Fliss and I screamed at her several times to leave, don't look back, don't trust Jay, just go far far away. Jay has become more diabolical and his hatred for Mark is eating him up. Fliss uncovers a secret that will hav her begging for her life.

I will leave the story there, because you must experience the superb writing of this author. The story is well crafted and takes us into the mind of a person bent on revenge and hatred that will leave you shaking as the story continued down a dark sinister road of madness. I have read a book that literally scared me and made me glance over my shoulders serval times. It is gritty, vengeful , violent and a masterfully written psychological thriller that has all the makings for a great movie. The caliber of writing this author has done is explosive with an ending so electrifying that the ending is a heart pumping thrill that leaves you breathless. I loved the ending and I didn't see it coming. Be prepared to read with the lights on and hold on tight till the very end. It is going to be a bumpy, scary, and explosive ride right till the end. You have been warned.

I received a digital copy of this book from Librarything giveaway for an honest review.

I will confess: when I was halfway the book I did not want to finish the book. It was so awfully scaring, and I knew it would get worse.
I was right, in thinking it would get worse I mean. But I could not stop reading. I had to go reading on and on. Until I finished the book.
People who like a frightening story, a story about how people can get psychologically abused and what happens to them: do read this story.
People who like psychological thrillers should read this book too. They will not regret it.

I recieved this book from library thing in exchange for an honest review.
I quite liked this book. It takes me much longer to read ebooks than paperback books for some reason, but I am glad I made it through this one. This book alternated between Jay and Fliss in the present and Jay and Sammi in the past. Jay wants Fliss to date his old friend Mark and then Jay will come in and sleep with her in order to get back at him for doing the same thing with his old girlfriend Sammi when they were in school.
The relationship between all of the characters are somewhat messed up. They are all out for doing things for their own reason and both Fliss and Sammi got caught between Jay and Mark at different points in their lives.
The writer did a good job making me care about what happened to both Fliss and Sammi and loathing Jay. Mark I wasn't sure about and then the end came up and, while I had guessed a few things along the way, there were still a couple surprises for me. Needless to say, I would recommend this book for those who like psychological thrillers with some complex characters.

Anything For Him is L.K. Chapman's second book, and it was definitely worth reading. I enjoyed the conversational voice, and the plot moved exactly as it needed to. However, even though the story was interesting and had several good plot twists, I felt like the book was somewhat predictable. As an avid reader, I have noticed that in the genre of suspense, it seems like almost everything has been done already. In light of that, Chapman played out the storyline with skill and I found myself wrapped up in the book in spite of myself and my skepticism. There were several very tense parts of the story and I felt like Chapman handled them with excellence. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense novels. It really is a good read and a great way to pass the time.½

I received this book for free from the author through LibraryThing's "member giveaway" program in exchange for my honest review.

It's easy to pass over a review like this where the reviewer has received a copy of the book for free thinking they can't possibly be unbiased. While it may be true that I went into it hoping to like it, I can honestly say that I would not have been disappointed had I spent the $4 it currently costs to buy the kindle version.

While there are parts of Anything for Him that are predictable (it's nearly impossible to catch readers off guard these days), the story is unlike many other thrillers I've read. To start with, the author splits the narrative between the two female protagonists almost through the entire book deviating from this for only one chapter. Chapman does this all while continuing to build the tension and dread of the reader and without making the story seem broken or choppy.

The characters are interesting and engaging, and their conflicts feel genuine. The portions that focus on physical and emotional abuse feel real enough to have you cringing and internally screaming at the characters to get the hell out of there.

Anything for Him is a solid thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat unwilling to put it down until you've read the last line.

Networked is a real page turner. Each chapter left me dying to read the next one and the pace of the story is very well balanced. It’s packed with intense scenes but also has intimate moments where the characters’ personalities shine through.

The story covers some pretty diverse topics, including artificial intelligence and violence in video games but also depression, intimate relationships and even questions what it means to be alive.

The three main characters in Networked are normal people trying to deal with a very abnormal situation that seems to keep getting worse and worse, but the differences between the characters show in how they respond to the situation. I enjoyed reading how the relationship between the characters changed throughout the story and I found the ending surprisingly emotional.

There are regular flashbacks to an earlier period when one of the main characters, Lily, was struggling with depression and I particularly liked how these moments were echoed in the present day and also seeing the ways in which Lily has and hasn't changed since then.

Despite being classed as sci-fi it’s not really like most sci-fi that I have read before and I would definitely recommend it to people who wouldn't normally read sci-fi.

Too Good for this world is an intriguing and well written short story. I have already read the main book in this series, Networked and it was really interesting to read about these events that were unfolding at the same time but completely separately to the main story. I think this book really adds to the world created in Networked, and is also an exciting introduction for new readers.

Anything for Him had a real impact on me. The characters are so real that I found myself thinking about them even when I wasn't reading the book. I felt genuine fear, excitement, hope and sadness for them as I read chapter after chapter of this rollercoaster of a story.

Not many books stick with me for as long as this one has - If you want an exciting book that also makes you feel something, then you won't be disappointed, but be warned - once you enter Jay's world you won't be able to leave, even after you put the book down!
