A fast and fascinating read. Vic stutters, which leaves him more of an observer than a participant in life. When he sees a female classmate throwing up after drinking too much at a party, he helps her upstairs and makes sure she's lying on her side with a wastebasket handy before going outside to wait for his best friend to be ready to leave.
A few days later, his good deed seems to result in his being investigated for the rape of that girl. While her memory is iffy and there's no physical evidence, community sentiment, and his own mother's reaction turn hostile and suspicious.
With little to go on and almost no support, Vic's only hope of clearing his name might be a miracle. That comes in the form of Autumn Dixon, the victim's attractive and aloof best friend. Once she's begun to believe that Vic is innocent, they team up and start digging. What they discover is unexpected, painful, and threatens to turn their small community on its ear. Altogether an excellent portrayal of something that unfortunately happens too often.

Hunter Jackson and his half sister Ashlin spend the winter with their father. One day, by chance when walking through the woods, they come upon a boy their age who seems to enjoy finding things in the creek. Over the years, they become friends, and think of Chance when not with him.

Chance weaves a tale of living in a large home and having perfect parents. All too soon, Ashlin and Hunter discover that Chance is lying. It appears Chance likes to weave a web of exageration, still, they enjoy him and he is a constant at their father's house.

They learn that Chance does not live in a nice neighborhood, and they learnof the many lies he told them.

A story of sexual awakening and series friendship, this is a well-written story. When it is discovered that Chance's father is not the person portrayed by Chance, the plot thickens.

While not stellar, it is worth reading.

2.5 Stars. It was very meh. Characters were too robotic and bland.

I really enjoyed this one! An all-boys boarding school historical romance with a supernatural twist? Yes, please. The book was very well-paced, and even if I had a hunch who the bad guy was pretty much from the start, the little plot twists and turns kept it from being predictable. The ghost story was a bit cliche in the beginning, with the chain-rattling and the haunted hallways, but the physical manifestation of the spirits and the fact that they could actually hurt people was an interesting change.

James was a really fun narrator, and his POV kept the book from becoming too dark or depressing, even though he had some skeletons in his own closet. His relationship with William, who's also far from problem-free, was a big part of the story. They had great chemistry, and understood each other well despite their differences. The way James courted William with poetry was super cute.

The HFN ending wrapped up the story nicely. The way everyone came together in the end - the guys, the teachers and even the ghosts - to defeat the villain was a very satisfying conclusion.
