Adam
Adam Hall
- The Chamber. Grisham makes the complexity of law sound easy. This story has only one possible ending, whereby the prisoner is sent to the Gas Chamber. But it is the way the book is written, taking the reader through the many channels of appeals that, in this case does not help the prisoner in any way. Adam Hall tries the impossible, handling his Grandfathers case before his time is up. Totally enjoyable reading. von John Grisham
Agnes Mikaelsson
- The Girl Who Played with Fire. Stieg Larsson (Millennium Trilogy). I have made the mistake of reading the second one first. Maybe this is the reason that I found the book hard going, but the tension did eventually build up. Trying to remember who's who with the Swedish names slowed me down a bit with the flow of the book. But enough grizzles. The characters are great; Lisbeth Salander is a real ball of fire and knows how to handle situations, and the story is fantastic. von Stieg Larsson

- The Racketeer: A Novel. I'm so tempted to give this five stars, it's so good. The reader is totally wrapped as Malcolm Bannister aka Max Baldwin, a negro lawyer spending ten years in prison for a crime he did not commit, is released after solving a murder case.
