Über meine Bibliothek
I have a secret pride in my book collection and like showing it off the way some people like showing off art. Our house, an old 1920s Craftsman bungalow, has glass cabinets with shelves in the living room, and I carefully chose the books that would go in it, relegating the chick lit and marketing titles to a basement bookshelf. When I visit somebody's house, I check out their books out of the corner of my eye (and then I move on to their CDs).

My LibraryThing library is a combination of books I own and books I've read from the library. And, because I'm a published author of three non-fiction books, I of course had to include those in my library as well!
Über mich
I'm a writer by passion and training, and a brand manager by current profession. As a bit of a workaholic, reading is one of my only hobbies. I am an ambitious and compulsive reader. Two years ago, when my husband and I were shopping for a house, I was thrilled with the one we ended up buying because it is located around the corner from a branch of the Oakland Public Library! And now that my 4 1/2 month daughter is in day care, I am so excited that her nanny takes her to the library on Wednesdays for story hour. Perhaps she will end up being as big of a book geek as I am.

While I was out on maternity leave recently, I had this idea that I wanted to read every single book in our collection that I hadn't read yet. Of course, this is an impossible feat, because 4 a.m. breastfeeding is not conducive to serious reading. Now that I'm back at work and a regular routine, I'm devoted to taking on that challenge again. I want to work my way through our book collection before trying to read anything else (my monthly pick for my book group excepted, of course).
