My goal is to read 50 books I own (and unlike in previous years, this is regardless of how long I've owned them). Last year, I had mixed results: 40 shelf-sitters (books I've owned for at least a year), but I read 70 total books I own(ed), plus a ton of DNFs I didn't count, but I will be counting those this year.

Well, so far, January hasn't been a complete failure, even though I'm reading slowly. I got through four books and didn't finish three, which are now off my shelves! I hope to finish two more books by tomorrow night.

Will you count y our DNFs in your total?

I'm not sure if I should count them or not. I mean, I didn't finish reading them, but I did get them off my shelves (and posted on swap sites so they won't be staying in my home). I think I will count them then. :D

Good choice - clearing shelves for some is the ultimate goal.

Clearing my shelves is a must because I have several small boxes of book overflow that I want to put on my shelves.

I updated my list, but I didn't include a bunch of Anne McCaffrey books I read in the past and just skimmed through now to see if I wanted to keep them. I ended up getting rid of most of them, so I was able to get one whole overflow box on the bookshelf where the McCaffreys were.

I finally updated my list again. I'm having a bad year in the real life department, so my reading and posting have both slowed way down.

That's sad, Quaisior, I hope the year will have a better ending. But real live gets in the way sometimes of lots of fun-things.

Thanks Connie. Sorry I haven't posted in so long, I've been busy cleaning my house from top to bottom. I updated my list and reorganized it.

Thanks Connie.

I did my final update of my lists. I think reading 47 of my own books (and not reading many library books, so I could focus mostly on Mt. TBR) was a moderate success. The 36 DNFs is a huge success though because I used to finish every book I started, no matter how bad it was and how much I hated it. In addition to the books I read and my DNFs, I got rid of 100 books in 2013 (some of those were books I had read before; I periodically go through my shelves and weed out books I don't think I will reread).
